Halloween is the season of ghosts, monsters and things that go bump in the night. But engineers have a few nightmares of their own! From perfectly converged simulations that produce completely wrong answers to mysterious noises, last-minute design changes and disappearing files, engineering comes with its own collection of small horrors. Some will be familiar to students, while others become particularly memorable with experience. This Halloween, we're taking a light-hearted look at five things that might send a shiver down an engineer's spine, and celebrating the humour that helps us navigate the occasional frustrations of engineering life.
